Who we are
Fungai Art is an independent artistic and herbal practice operated by Robin Fungi and Steph Teÿæ. Contact: robin@fungai.art. We are the data controller for personal information collected through this website (fungai.art).
What we collect
Local browser storage (localStorage) — your shopping cart, any herbal formulas you save in the Herbal Engine, and your cookie-notice acknowledgement. This data never leaves your browser. We don't see it.
Order information (only if you purchase) — name, email, shipping address, items ordered. Used to fulfil and ship your order. Stored securely; deleted on request.
Newsletter email (only if you subscribe) — email address you submit to the newsletter form. Used only to send the monthly Field Notes. Unsubscribe anytime, instantly.
Payment information — processed by Stripe. Fungai Art never sees your card number. Stripe's privacy policy: stripe.com/privacy
What we do not collect
No Google Analytics, Facebook Pixel, or any third-party tracking
No advertising identifiers
No behavioural profiling or cross-site tracking
No fingerprinting
No data sold to anyone, for any reason, ever
Third-party services
The site uses these external services. Each handles data only as needed for the function listed:
Netlify — hosting and form submissions. Server logs may retain IP addresses briefly for security. netlify.com/privacy
Stripe — payment processing (only when you check out). stripe.com/privacy
Open-Meteo — weather data for the Foraging Map. No personal data sent. CC BY 4.0 licensed.
GBIF — biodiversity observations for the Foraging Map. Public CC0 data. No personal data sent.
CARTO basemaps — map tiles. Loaded directly by your browser; CARTO may log the tile requests.
Cookies & local storage
We use the bare minimum:
fungai_cart — your shopping cart (localStorage, browser-only)
fungai_formulas — formulas you save in the Herbal Engine (localStorage, browser-only)
fungai_cookie_ack — remembers that you've seen this notice (localStorage, browser-only)
Stripe session cookies — only set when you check out, for fraud prevention
Clearing your browser data removes all of the above. We do not use marketing or analytics cookies of any kind.
Your rights (GDPR)
If you're in the EU/UK (and we extend these rights to everyone), you can:
Access — request a copy of any data we hold about you
Correct — ask us to fix anything inaccurate
Delete — request deletion of your data ("right to be forgotten")
Portability — receive your data in machine-readable form
Object — stop us using your data for any specific purpose
To exercise any of these, email robin@fungai.art. We'll respond within 30 days — usually within 48 hours.
Data retention
Order records — kept for 7 years (Swedish accounting law requirement), then deleted
Newsletter email — until you unsubscribe
Local browser data — until you clear it or revisit this site after a long absence
Security
The site is served over HTTPS only. Payments are processed by Stripe (PCI-DSS Level 1). We do not store payment data on our servers. Newsletter and form submissions are stored by Netlify with industry-standard encryption.
Children
The site is not intended for users under 18. We do not knowingly collect data from minors. Some herbs documented in our materia medica are restricted for adult use only.
Changes to this policy
If we ever change this policy, the "Last updated" date at the top will change and a notice will appear on the homepage. Material changes will be announced via the newsletter.
